EMAE - Empresa Metropolitana de Águas e Energia S.A. is an electric power generation utility operating in the state of São Paulo. The company's business model centers on the operation of its generator park, which includes the Henry Borden hydroelectric complex, the Porto Góes plant and PCH Rasgão, and pumping plants. A key activity of the company is to control the water level of Rio Pinheiros, in the capital of São Paulo, to control floods and to generate power at the Henry Borden plant. The company sells its energy generated through auctions in the Regulated Contracting Environment (ACR) and Free Contracting Environment (ACL). Recently, the company underwent a privatization process and its controlling interest was acquired by Phoenix Multistrategy Investment Fund.
